Local Food & Drink

Isle of Man food and drink guide — Manx queenies, kippers, craft breweries, farm shops, farmers markets and the best places to eat.

Manx Food & Drink

The Isle of Man produces incredible food for such a small island. From the Irish Sea to the hills — here's what to eat and where to find it.

Iconic Manx Foods

🐚 Queenies

Queen scallops — the island's seafood treasure. Sweet, delicate and best eaten fresh from the bay. Try them at any good Manx restaurant.

🐟 Manx Kippers

Moore's in Peel have been smoking herrings over oak chips since 1882. The original and still the best. Factory shop on the quay.

🧀 Manx Cheese

Isle of Man Creamery produces award-winning cheeses. The Manx Vintage Cheddar is exceptional.

🍞 Laxey Flour

Laxey Glen Mills — one of the last working watermills in the British Isles. Their flour is used by bakers across the island.

🦀 Crab & Lobster

Landed daily by local fishermen. The Harbour Bistro in Peel and Foraging Vintners in Douglas are reliable spots.

🥩 Loaghtan Lamb

From the rare Manx Loaghtan sheep — dark, rich, gamey meat. A genuine delicacy with Protected Designation of Origin potential.

Craft Drinks

  • Okells — The island's oldest brewery (1850). Try the Bitter or MPA.
  • Bushy's — Craft brewery behind the TT beer tent. Old Bushy Tail is a classic.
  • Hooded Ram — Newer craft brewery, excellent range.
  • Fynoderee — Manx gin distillery. Botanical flavours from island-foraged ingredients.
  • Manx Spirit Co. — Small-batch rum and whisky.
