Birth, Death & Marriage
The Civil Registry handles all vital records on the Isle of Man.
Births
- Register within 42 days of birth
- Register at the Civil Registry, Deemsters Walk, Douglas
- You'll need: full names of both parents, dates/places of birth, occupations, address
- Birth certificates: ~£15 each (check current fees)
Marriages & Civil Partnerships
- Give 21 days notice to the Civil Registry
- Both parties must be 16+ (16-17 need parental consent)
- Ceremonies can be at the Registry Office, licensed venues, or churches
- Same-sex marriage has been legal since 2016
- Cost: ~£100-200 depending on venue and time
Deaths
- Register within 5 days
- A medical certificate of cause of death is required
- The Coroner of Inquests may be involved in unexpected deaths
